The Mick Jagger Centre is actively involved and supports community projects. Current projects include:
The Dartford Township Choir - World Music
ENQUIRIES WELCOMED FOR THIS RECENTLY FORMED (2008) CHOIR

WE ARE A VOLUNTARY, NON-PROFIT MAKING GROUP OF PEOPLE WHO JUST LIKE TO SING!

The choir was created in 2008 to promote and organise adult participation in world music, through workshops leading to public performances.
DTC so far has participated in three successful public performances of South African Township music (Mbawula) at both the Mick Jagger Centre, Dartford and at Blackheath Concert Hall. More recently the choir took on a fresh challenge, with five workshops followed by a full-house performance of GOSPEL music at Christ Church, Dartford in July 2009 with the renowned Ken Burton as our Musical Director/Conductor.
The popularity of the choir has seen membership grow rapidly to more than 120 members. Two C.Ds have so far been made.
DTC welcomes enquiries from both experienced singers and those who may never have been in a choir but would like to give it a try! We do not hold auditions
For membership enquiries and details of our forthcoming programme, contact LIZ, our Membership Secretary on 01322 412774 or Maggie (Secretary): trotterandking@ntlworld.com

Dartford Symphony... The Orchestra of the Thames Gateway
Since 1946 Dartford has delighted in its symphony. With a programme of six concerts each year, a blend of local professional musicians and amateurs provide quality live music literally on our doorstep. The symphony has recently been awarded major grants from the PRS Foundation, the National Lottery - Awards for All, in addition to a sustaining grant from Dartford Borough Council. The awards recognised our innovative programming, working with students and established composers, together with outreach work with the local community, including from rural communities of north west Kent. We invite you to make contact and hear for yourself the music we make. DSO rehearse at the mjc regularly.
